i really really really love minecraft ...... i love minecraft!!!!!!! i think it itches the same scratch that drawing/writing/music do for me of your imagination genuinely being the limit. genuinely haven't gone a single year of my life without playing minecraft since 2012. i've recently retired my (now) previous longplay survival world to start a new one. it lasted about 4 years and means so much to me but recently i was starting to get the feeling it's time to move on...

my favourite activities in minecraft are building and roleplay. these two tend to play into each other but in my new world i really want to lean into the roleplaying aspect... for a long time i think i was embarrassed or expected myself to grow out of it (it was in fact how i spent a large majority of my time playing as a kid) but i think roleplay is inevitable in minecraft and it honestly is really boring without it. i really like the definition Luvstar comes up with on youtube but i don't remember which video haha.

  • pokemon

heartgold/soulsilver, black/white, explorers of sky, and emerald are my favourite installments. i think each of these has their own respective strengths while also having been important to me at one point or another. in my opinion: hgss and emerald are tied for being the most fun in terms of exploration & catching pokemon; b/w has the strongest visuals & battling system of the ds era; eos has the best writing (in context of pokemon games. outside of them it's a pretty simple but heartfelt story haha). i've played almost every game up to an incomplete save of sword/shield from 2022, at which point i got fed up with the quality of 2020s pokemon games! or maybe i just dont like 3d pokemon.

  • tloz: ocarina of time

this is one of those autism things where i have like every step memorized in the game and find something new to love about it on each replay anyways. everyone has talked about oot to death so i wont go on too much lol. i will add that everytime i play i like to do it alongside SuperSkamory's walkthrough from like 2012, i did it every time as a kid because i used to be scared of stuff in the game and it sort of accidentally became a tradition i guess??

  • portal 1 & 2

so amazing in every way that everyone has already said for over a decade, if you haven't played the games are short and also like 2 dollars on most, if not all platforms. i love glados

  • god of war: ragnarok

i will admit i have not actually played this, i just watched all of snapcube's stream vods. i honestly don't think this would be a favourite of mine if i had played it myself because i burn out easily from these sorts of games. insanely incredible and amazing storytelling, i love the amount of love and thought poured into the characters and worldbuilding!!!

  • despite the amount of my lifetime i've spent playing games, i actually don't have many i can think of to add to this list. i think my criteria is a bit more picky because replayability + being memorable/deeply impactful is a difficult combination to find with games, at least for myself. honorable mentions of hollow knight and octo expansion from splatoon 2!
